The Reebonz Story
The Long Island Collection by Franck Muller
Realising his
passion for the makings and mechanics of watches, Franck Muller made his
breakthrough in the watch manufacturing industry when he opened his workshop
The House of Franck Muller in 1991. Having graduated from the prestigious
Watchmaking School of Geneva, the Swiss watchmaker dabbled in designing
intricate timepieces that fused modern styles with vintage accents inspired by
the thirties era.
Muller soon
produced his own tourbillon wristwatch that garnered much acclaim and was very
well received by watch enthusiasts across Europe and America. With his detailed
workmanship, Muller gained recognition for being one of the best watchmakers who
produced elaborately designed watches. The brand then adopted the slogan
“Master of Complication”.
To date, FranckMuller has designed over 14 different series of watches. The brand’s complex
yet practical designs have even caught the attention of celebrities like Demi Moore
and Elton John. One note-worthy series from Muller’s creation is the Long
Island.
The elegant
straight lines of Long Island watches distinguish them prominently from the
rest of Muller’s curvaceous creations. The trademark of their subtle bezels is thoughtful
decorations. Cast in precious metal, the bezels are often embedded with
precious stones and frequently sport the whimsical, shear Roman numerals that
are unique to the 56-year-old Swiss watchmaker’s offerings.
A sharp swerve
from Franck Muller’s trademark quixotic silhouettes, the Long Island wristwatch
has undergone a plethora of transformations. With a tourbillon version amongst
the alumni, the series was later reinterpreted in 2014 with mother-of-pearl
dials.
Since its
release, the Long Island series has grown in leaps and bounds and has become
one of the many notable and exquisitely embellished timepieces for both women
and men.
